At a time when print newspapers are shrinking and disappearing across the globe, a new weekly publication has appeared at the south end of the valley.
Four editions of Osoyoos Daylight have hit the street on consecutive Wednesdays. So far, the tabloid has comprised 16 pages with intensely local content and a respectable number of ads.
The free publication is available at several local businesses and, according to its website, through home delivery.
What makes the folks behind Osoyoos Daylight believe they can buck the trends in an increasingly online environment is not clear, since editor Trent Nellis declined to be interviewed for ODN. The paper’s website touts itself as, “… your weekly source for accurate, unbiased and comprehensive news coverage for the members of our local community.”
